Lynne Lieberman, Acting Executive Director has worked in the area of formal and informal Jewish education for over twenty years.  Lynne Lieberman earned her Master's Degree in Jewish Education from Hebrew College of Boston, Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University with a major in Hebrew Language and Literature and minor in Jewish Studies. Lynne has taught Judaic Studies and Hebrew language in afternoon religious schools, day schools, and adult education programs for over twenty-five years. She was the principal of education for Temple Israel of Dayton, Ohio, a congregation of 800, prior to moving to the Palm Beaches. Lynne holds a Principals “A” License from the National Board of License.  She is the recipient of the Palm Beach Fellowship for Christians & Jews’ Award for Excellence in Contribution to Education.  Lynne consults on a wide array of academic, community relations, and interfaith issues for schools, and congregations.

 robyn-hurvitz 

Robyn Hurvitz, Director of Professional Development has worked in the fields of both secular and Jewish education for fifteen years.  She is a certified teacher with a degree in sociology and secondary education from the University of Utah and Westminster College. Before joining the Commission for Jewish Education Robyn was the Director of Family Education & Youth at Temple Sholom in Greenwich, Connecticut. Robyn’s department provided programming for children K-12 as well as community wide family events. Robyn also worked as the Assistant Director of Education at Temple Sholom for two years. Previous to her work at Temple Sholom, Robyn was a school teacher in Salt Lake City, Utah both in a private Jewish Community school and a public school.

Wilma Turk, Director of Special Needs has worked in the fields of Special Education and informal Jewish education for twenty-five years. She has a Masters Degree in Special Education and a second Masters in Administration and Supervision from Hofstra University. Wilma was Assistant Principal, Special Education at W. C. Bryant High School in Long Island City, New York for sixteen years where some of her professional accomplishments included providing supervision for a department of more than 40 on a yearly basis and ensuring the rights of and providing top-quality education for students with special needs. She and her husband have been active members of the Conservative Movement beginning with their involvement as young adults in United Synagogue Youth, and including leading four United Synagogue Youth Israel Pilgrimage Groups to Israel.

amy-bergmanAmy Bergman, Director Jewish Family Life administers the PJ Library program and is developing a community-wide network of Jewish family programs.  Originally from Miami, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and has worked both in the business and the non-profit world for almost twenty years.  Most recently, Amy has been an instructor, teacher and family life educator at Temple Beth Torah in Wellington where she facilitated programs for children ages 15 to 30 months and their parents as well as taught the youngest 2 year old class.  She also created and implemented multi-cultural enrichments programs for children ages 3 – 5 years old as well as programs for intermarried families within the synagogue community.  Prior to her work at Temple Beth Torah, Amy was a Program Director at the Kaplan Branch of the JCC where she supervised the Cultural Arts, Special Events and Adult Departments.  During her six year tenure at the JCC she planned the community’s Israel Fest 50 Celebration and the Annual Jewish BookFair which included literary programs for all ages.

Carol Cohen, Director of Development has a fifteen year background in fundraising.  She began with CJE organizing Conversations with Women Writers in the Palm Beach Gardens area.   Carol has also:

  • Organized a Women’s Division for United Jewish Appeal in 1972 in Northern New Jersey and served as a chairperson for 3 years and co-chair for 2 years.
  • Moved to Florida in 1992 and became a vice- president on the Palm Beach Federation’s Women’s Board from 1996 until April 2007.
  • Served as Federation’s Women’s Division Chairperson for Eastpointe Golf & Racquet Club in Palm Beach Gardens from 1996 until 2004.
  • Was Federation’s Chairperson for the entire campaign at Eastpointe G&R for 2004-2007.


Carol is Wife of Herbert, Mom to Jeffrey (Linda), Kenneth (Heidi) and Andrew (Sandy), and grandma to 5 1/2 winners!

Sandy Daum, Director of Teen Services has worked in the field of Jewish education since 1974. Sandy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Judaic Studies and Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany.  She has worked in afternoon religious schools, community Hebrew High schools, Jewish teen leadership programs and adult education programs, both as a teacher and administrator. Sandy has participated in the March of the Living since 1992 and is the March of the Living Alumni Activities Coordinator for Broward County. In 2005 Sandy was a Grinspoon Steinhart Award recipient for Broward County.
