IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
OF PJ SUBSCRIPTION CHANGE !

Out Go PJ Age Groups,
In Come PJ ABC Food Groups!

Each PJ subscription now belongs to a delicious Jewish food group, in alphabetical order from Apples to Hamantaschen. No longer will there be the confusion of “my child is 2 but is getting age 3 books.”  We hope you like the PJ ABCs!

Recognizing that our books are appropriate for an age range wider than twelve months, we are moving to a new system of referencing our books and music.  Your books will now be identified as belonging to a PJ ABC food group.  The book and music page on our website (www.pjlibrary.org) provides increased information to families about the range of ages and characteristics of each of the PJ ABC food groups.

And the PJ ABC FOOD GROUPS are . . .

Apples & Honey (ages 6 months to 2 years)
~ simple pictures and concepts, often in the form of sturdy board books

Bagels & Lox (ages 2 to 3)
~ books with eye-catching illustrations, predictable language and action

Challah Toast (ages 3 to 4)
~ slightly longer stories with predictable plots and more detailed illustrations

Dates & Almonds (ages 4 to 5)
~ longer stories with more mature vocabulary and character development

Egg Matza (ages 5 to 6)
~ more nuanced stories including fantasy, folktales, Bible stories, and realistic fiction connecting to children’s daily lives

Falafel (ages 6 to 7)
~ imaginative storylines imbued with rich language, featuring folklore and tales from different time periods
