The J.N. Somers Yad Hebrew School for Children with Special Needs
The Commission for Jewish Education’s J.N. Somers Yad Hebrew School is a unique Hebrew School for children with special needs where students learn Jewish traditions, holiday rituals, and Hebrew prayers in a fun, loving, one-to-one, barrier-free environment. Yad serves children ages 5 and older who are who are on the Autism spectrum, have Downs Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, speech delays and those who need more support than may be received in a traditional synagogue religious school. Judith & Jack Rosenberg Mentoring 4 Kids is a free, non-sectarian program of Alpert Jewish Family & Children’s Service. We match thoroughly screened adult volunteer mentors with children ages 6-14 who are being raised in single parent homes. Together, the mentor and child share a wide range of fun, cultural activities while building a lasting friendship.
