Our 2018-2019 Season

Angela Himsel’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Jewish Week,
the Forward and Lilith.

How does a woman who grew up in rural Indiana as a fundamentalist Christian
end up a practicing Jew in New York? Join author Angela Himsel on her riveting
journey of transformation in A River Could Be a Tree in this page-turning memoir
told with warmth, humor and a multitude of religious and philosophical insights.

The Magnificent Esme Wells captures the glitz and glamour of pre-WWII Hollywood
and Las Vegas in its early days, a golden age when Jewish gangsters and movie
moguls were often indistinguishable in looks and behavior. This coming-of-age
story illuminates the promises and perils of the American dream and its dreamers,
in a compelling and complicated father-daughter relationship.

Adrienne Sharp is also the author of the story collection White Swan, Black Swan,
and the novels First Love, The Sleeping Beauty and The True Memoirs of Little K.
